QuickStart Guide copyUpdated a month ago
Congratulations, you have just purchased your first iFlight BNF. We wish you save flights and a great time with your quadcopter.
We have some short steps to follow:
Step 1: Don't put your propellers on!
Leave the spin direction markers on the motors. We will need those for the last step putting on the propellers.
Step 2: Bind the receiver installed in your BNF to your transmitter.
Most quads can power the receiver through the USB cords. If you don't see the receiver LED come up, try again with a battery to confirm a.) if its powered on and b.) its position. The flight controller (FC) sits always around the center, the receiver (TBS Crossfire or ELRS) is about as big as your thumb and sits in the front or back, top or bottom mounted.
ATTENTION: Never plug in a battery if there is no antenna installed on your quad. This can possibly damage your video transmitter but also leads to overheating. Always keep the battery plugged in as short as possible if no cooling applied to the drone.
DJI FPV Radio Controller (RC2, RC3) do not have a separate receiver. The DJI video transmitter has an inbuilt receiver which connects to Goggle and Radio Controller. This can only be powered on by plugging in the battery.
If you don't know how to bind your receiver to your radio transmitter, please don't skip Step 3.
Skip Step 3 if you've already linked everything together.
Step 3: Follow Up with our Binding Guides
We have separated Setup Guides for ELRS, TBS Crossfire or DJI Radio Controllers. You'll know what you need to select.
Please come back after binding your receiver to your radio transmitter.
Step 4: Download and install the Betaflight Configurator
Step 5: Connect your computer to your drone with an USB cable.
Step 6: Download ImpulseRC driver fixer if you're on a windows computer.
Open the file while being connected to your drone. The tool will automatically detect the flight controller and install the windows drivers for Betaflight.
Step 7: Open the Betaflight Configurator.
We have to do some simple steps to doublecheck your equipment. Every iFlight BNF comes with a factory setup that contains a lot of settings to configure the flight controller, but also so called tune and filter setups that make your drone fly well.
Sidenote:
You don't need to change anything, you also don't need to update anything. If you plan to update, there is a separate advanced Guide which we don't need now. Updates should only be performed by advanced users with experience. Never try an update before doing some flights on the factory setup first.
Step 8: Quick Check:
On the first screen, you can see the drones' orientation, nothing to check here. Click on the 'Receiver' tab and confirm that your radio transmitter is correctly sending inputs. Plug in your battery to hear your drone bootup the first time. Try if the throttle stick is moving the throttle indicator.
Click on 'Modes' tab to setup your arming button. The standard for most people would be AUX1, and this is also recommended due to some technical aspects of the software. For DJI Radio Controllers please use any button you like to arm. To assign a AUX channel just click on the Dropdown in the Arm field and select AUTO, then move the button you want to link.
Angle Mode is activated by default across the entire selection range of channel AUX2. If you don't want to use this leveling mode just smaller the selection range and assign AUX2 to a button on your radio controller to activate or deactivate this function at any time.
